Make the skin on my face brighter/ Less ashy?

blahblah asked:

The skin on my face is ashy-looking (I’m Indian). How do I make it look more naturally flushed without using skin care products or cosmetics? I want to use organic materials, like stuff from the kitchen. PLEASE HELP!!

Why? Just buy a good moisturizer, your face is probably a little dry. Otherwise, I don’t know, pinch it? Hah.

Hi, there are natural products you can use and here are a few.

Cucumbers (refrigerated) to place (sliced) on your eyes for puffiness. The coolness will reduce any swelling. To exfoliate twice a week you can mix Oatmeal with water and keep on your face for 10 minutes. Vitamin C is a natural brightner for your skin. However, some of our citrus products may be a little too harsh for the skin so you might try products like shea butter for dry skin, pumpkin for a light chemical peel (leave on 10 minutes), and drink a lot of water to keep your body flushed of toxins. I hope this helps and I love Indian food!!! An Indian friend taught me how to thread eyebrows!!

Try this one natural product. Your skin, no matter what age or skin type, is going to love this so much that it’s going to GLOW - without risky, cell-damaging chemicals.
After you try it, you’ll be back for more. Feed your skin, don’t poison it…

Radiant Glow Scrub
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup powdered oats (just plain oatmeal)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

mix together…
add enough water to make a paste
warm your skin with almost hot wash cloth to open pores and loosen dead dry skin cells
spread mixture on your face
leave it on for a few minutes
rub gently while rinsing so the baking soda helps gently efoliate

Rinse

Rub a couple of drops of light vegetable oil on your skin to seal in moisture and seal out toxins

GLOW. Try it, you’ll love it so much you won’t want to wear make-up.

It might have something to do with what you eat. You know the old saying “you are what you eat”, well it’s true, there are people that are trained to look at your skin and can tell you what kind of diet you have, the different types of fruits and vegetables that you consume, if you eat too much sugar etc. I don’t know what kind of diet you are on, but if you’re not doing this already try incorporating more whole foods into your diet, and try to avoid the processed foods and sugar. Exfoliate about three times a week with olive oil, sea salt, and lavender oil, some say that this is too harsh, but it works for me! Get some EFA’s in your diet as well as taking vitamin C.

I was bored one day a few weeks ago and decided to make my own body (not facial) scrub. I didn’t really measure or anything but I used roughly 3 parts white “table” sugar, 2 parts sea salt (not fine and not course grain, kind of in between) and 1 part extra-virgin olive oil. Every other day or so I scrub my arms and legs with this in the shower and it seems to be doing a decent job of exfoliating rough and dry skin, which is what makes you ashy if you have a darker complexion (I’m fair skinned but it’s the same problem.) Anyhoo, it’s no miracle cure, but it was cheap and easy to make and I figure if find myself trapped in my bathroom for like a week (who knows, it could happen!) I can always eat it to stay alive.

Good luck.
