Make the skin on my face brighter/ Less ashy?

blahblah asked:

The skin on my face is ashy-looking (I’m Indian). How do I make it look more naturally flushed without using skin care products or cosmetics? I want to use organic materials, like stuff from the kitchen. PLEASE HELP!!

Responses:

vsoup :

Why? Just buy a good moisturizer, your face is probably a little dry. Otherwise, I don’t know, pinch it? Hah.

Execusuite :

Hi, there are natural products you can use and here are a few.

Cucumbers (refrigerated) to place (sliced) on your eyes for puffiness. The coolness will reduce any swelling. To exfoliate twice a week you can mix Oatmeal with water and keep on your face for 10 minutes. Vitamin C is a natural brightner for your skin. However, some of our citrus products may be a little too harsh for the skin so you might try products like shea butter for dry skin, pumpkin for a light chemical peel (leave on 10 minutes), and drink a lot of water to keep your body flushed of toxins. I hope this helps and I love Indian food!!! An Indian friend taught me how to thread eyebrows!!

neminly :

Try this one natural product. Your skin, no matter what age or skin type, is going to love this so much that it’s going to GLOW - without risky, cell-damaging chemicals.
After you try it, you’ll be back for more. Feed your skin, don’t poison it…

Radiant Glow Scrub
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup powdered oats (just plain oatmeal)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

mix together…
add enough water to make a paste
warm your skin with almost hot wash cloth to open pores and loosen dead dry skin cells
spread mixture on your face
leave it on for a few minutes
rub gently while rinsing so the baking soda helps gently efoliate

Rinse

Rub a couple of drops of light vegetable oil on your skin to seal in moisture and seal out toxins

GLOW. Try it, you’ll love it so much you won’t want to wear make-up.

aisha_73 :

It might have something to do with what you eat. You know the old saying “you are what you eat”, well it’s true, there are people that are trained to look at your skin and can tell you what kind of diet you have, the different types of fruits and vegetables that you consume, if you eat too much sugar etc. I don’t know what kind of diet you are on, but if you’re not doing this already try incorporating more whole foods into your diet, and try to avoid the processed foods and sugar. Exfoliate about three times a week with olive oil, sea salt, and lavender oil, some say that this is too harsh, but it works for me! Get some EFA’s in your diet as well as taking vitamin C.

Jenny23 :

lemon juice use once daily with a cotton ball vitamin c is a natural skin brightener/lightener plus its great for skin i love it

Go here and click on ****** masks find your skin type and you'll find a great glowing skin mask just for you everything you could need is on this site and its all natural!! Have fun

guinnevere34 :

I was bored one day a few weeks ago and decided to make my own body (not facial) scrub. I didn’t really measure or anything but I used roughly 3 parts white “table” sugar, 2 parts sea salt (not fine and not course grain, kind of in between) and 1 part extra-virgin olive oil. Every other day or so I scrub my arms and legs with this in the shower and it seems to be doing a decent job of exfoliating rough and dry skin, which is what makes you ashy if you have a darker complexion (I’m fair skinned but it’s the same problem.) Anyhoo, it’s no miracle cure, but it was cheap and easy to make and I figure if find myself trapped in my bathroom for like a week (who knows, it could happen!) I can always eat it to stay alive.

Good luck.

5 tablespoons of honey

Excess oil on your face can be a source of embarrassment and can lead to other more serious skin conditions. Prevent this by considering these suggestions:

. Remove excess oil by mixing 2 tablespoons of wheat flour with the right amount of water and apply this on your face using an upward circular motion. Leave on for a few minutes before rinsing with cool water.
. Cucumbers can also offer great relief from oily skin! Grind half a cucumber and extract its juice for your face pack. Apply the juice onto your face and leave on for a few minutes. Rinse with water and pat dry. This can refresh and tighten your skin effectively!
. Aside from removing excess oil from your skin, fenugreek and red gram seeds can help remove blackheads. Simply soak 2 to 3 teaspoons of fenugreek or red gram seeds overnight in clean water, grind into a paste and apply onto face. Leave the face pack on for about a few minutes (until it dries up) before rinsing it with cold water. The excess paste can be stored in the refrigerator for future use. However, be sure that you use the fenugreek mixture within a week and the red gram mixture within two days after preparation to maintain its efficiency.

Kitchen Cosmetics for acne

Make a face pack of bran plus baking soda and water. Mix into a paste, apply to the face, leaving on for 15 minutes. Rinse with solution of 1 part apple cider vinegar and 8 parts water.

Parsley : Use an infusion of fresh parsley to wash the skin

Mint: Peppermint is an excellent antiseptic wash for acne.

Garlic: Peel and mash eight cloves of fresh garlic. Apply to face avoiding the area around the eyes. Leave on for about 15 minutes. Wash off with a warm cloth. Finish with a rinse of the vinegar pH balancer.

Wine : Breakouts can be controlled by applying wine with a cotton ball, white wine for fair skin, red wine for darker complexions.

After washing skin rinse with any of the following herb infusions:
chamomile which is purifying
yarrow to eliminate toxins
catnip which is an antiseptic
lavender which is antiseptic
thyme which is a strong germ killer
Tea tree oil is a powerful antiseptic. Use it for acne, either diluted or full strength.

Burdock leaves in a poultice are excellent for boils and swellings, and as a wash for acne.

Dilute some lemon juice with water, dab pimple with solution to kill germs, cool inflammation and improve blood circulation.

Purchase or make your own calendula(marigold) ointment. Apply to reduce inflammation and speed healing. Or make an infusion and apply as a compress to the skin.
